GHOSTLY GIANTS: THE PLIGHT OF POACHED ELEPHANTS

book design

I designed this interactive book, starting from just the neutral word “elephant”. I began by exploring the concepts and associations within the word elephant and ultimately visually translated these ideas into this series of spreads - a few of which are below.

THE PROCESS

I began this project by brainstorming different concepts associated with the neutral word “elephant”. While doing this, I realized there was a repetition of ideas concerning poaching and elephant endangerment. Thus, I highlighted these associations in my book by the manner in which I visually depicted the word “elephant” itself, as well as in the graphical depictions of elephants throughout my book. I also wanted these ideas to manifest during the physical experience of reading my book, so I centered my designs around the inclusion of transparent pages.
